New features of Alpinestars SP-1
The main difference I have noticed with the Alpinestars motorcycle gloves is with the finish. Incidentally these gloves are also marketed as Alpinestars gloves just in case you were wondering they are the same thing! So the finish, compared to the Alpinestars gloves or Alpinestars GP Tech gloves the finish is a bit cheap. You may find that there are long threads hanging or the leather has not quite been cut to the fit you would expect. I guess Alpinestars can get away with it since its been marketed as a mid range glove. If you can live with the inferior finish then there is no reason not to buy these gloves. They will provide you with an excellent level of protection and come at a fantastic price. The cheapest I have seen the Alpinestars SP1 gloves are about $100 and its a great bargain at that price.
Alpinestars gloves are also on the market. You’ll also find them listed as Alpinestars SP-2 gloves and are very similar to the SP1 model but are even cheaper.
The SP-1 range also come in Alpinestars gloves Stella SP-1 format which is directed completely at the female market. It’s touted as having a cut specifically to fit a ladies hand and so it will fit much better.
Alpinestars SP-1 Gloves
Most of the Alpinestars gloves I have looked at so far have been pretty much at the top of the range. I hope I haven’t scared anyone off with the cost of these gloves. There are so called mid ranged biking gloves out there if that’s what you’re after. I know not everyone has $300 to spend on a pair of gloves so if you’re looking for that Alpinestars quality but your budget doesn’t quite stretch that far how about going for the Alpinestars gloves? They are aimed at general road use, you won’t catch any of the big named MotoGP stars using them but then hey how many of us are going to get to that level? Not me I know that much! Don’t let the ‘mid-range’ tag full you into thinking that you’re buying an inferior product though. They are stunning looking gloves and will provide you with an exceptionally high level of protection no matter what type of vehicle you’re on.
The Alpinestars motorcycle gloves are constructed from leather and the thickness of the leather varies from point to point on the gloves. Obviously the areas which require most protection have the thickest area of leather. Kevlar is also present which acts as additional abrasion resistance for that top quality protection. The knuckles are made up of carbon fiber and carbon fiber sliders are also present and correct on the fingers. As standard on the Alpinestars gloves these days is the ventilation holes to let a little air in to your hands for those long summer rides. These are present on the fingers and the wrist area. The wrist gauntlet is also rather familiar as it is the standard dual Velcro closure. The fit of these gloves is excellent and comes in various different sizes so you should find a pair to suit your needs. It is possible to get small Alpinestars gloves as I know this is a common query especially with the Alpinestars Alloy Gloves.
Scorpion Helmets in Hollywood
Dean McDermott, co-star of the Tori & Dean show featured on the Oxygen Channel, isn't your average Hollywood TV celebrity. He's as much a Scorpion motorcycle helmets enthusiast as the rest of us. He's been riding bikes since the ripe age of 12 and recently got the urge to take to the race track. So 'Scorpion USA' hooked him up with a full-custom race suit and helmets to get the job done. He now has his WERA racing license and has been chiseling his knee-dragging skills ever since. He's getting faster and part of that process is tossing the bike along the way. He's walked away from 2 crashes. One at low speed and another at over 100mph when the front end pushed out. Take a journey through Dean's trials and tribulations in trying to balance family and his need for speed by browsing through the below video's and tune in to the new season of "Tori & Dean - Home Sweet Hollywood" on the Oxygen Channel.

Capping things off are the matching scorpion-exo-400 Urban Destroyer helmets. Featuring an advanced polycarbonate composite construction, the shell's aero-tuned design has been wind-tunnel tested to ensure things stay quiet inside when all hell is breaking loose outside. Speaking of shields, Scorpion Helmets optically correct faceshields are treated with anti-scratch hardened coating and the exclusive EverClear® no-fog technology. Scorpion EXO-1000 review -- Part4
In fact, this gives the Scorpion exo-1000 the very dubious distinction of being the heaviest full-face, non-modular helmet we've ever reviewed. The only helmets that are heavier are all modulars: the Schuberth C2; the Nolan N102; the Nolan X-lite X-1002; the KBC FFR; and the stupendously massive HJC FS-Max (Modular) at 1911 grams (all in size XL).
That's too heavy, and although I will say that the Scorpion Helmets does seem fairly well balanced so that the weight isn't riding up top, the mass can be felt when turning my head side-to-side.
I'd guess that the multiple intake vents, exhaust vents, internal sun shade, the HelmetPump inflatable cheekpad system and probably the Snell compliance have taken their toll.
Score: "Poor" to "Unacceptable", depending upon personal preference.

Alpinestars Motorcycle Gloves
The Alpinestars motorcycle gloves "Storm Rider" were recommended by several webBikeWorld visitors and other local riders as a popular favorite, so we added them to the list for this comparison.
Alpinestars doesn't actually claim that the Storm Rider Gore-Tex gloves are for winter; in fact, they state that the Storm Rider "is a lightweight riding glove, ideal for touring and sport riding, even in cold weather".
I'm not sure I'd call them "lightweight", and they're not the warmest glove in this comparison, but I have to admit a growing admiration for them and I can see why they're so popular.
The warmest weather of summer may be a bit much for them; likewise the coldest depths of winter, but otherwise I think they would be an excellent choice for nearly all-year-round use, especially here in the Mid-Atlantic, where winter shouldn't be as cold as it has been recently.
Alpinestars makes a wide variety of high-quality motorcycle clothing and they have a strong reputation with motorcyclists around the world, and it looks like a lot of their experience went into the design of the Storm Rider gloves.
But you'll pay for 'em; the Storm Riders are tied with the Rev'it Tempest H2O gloves as the most expensive in this comparison.
Alpinestars motorcycle gloves--Gore-Tex
Alpinestars has you ready for any weather without sacrificing feel at the bars when you're wearing their waterproof 365 Drystar gloves. The breathable Gore-Tex X-Trafit membrane located under the outer leather chassis makes them an excellent choice for sunny weather as well - hence the 365 moniker. That's because Gore-Tex's X-Trafit liners permit the construction of a close-fitting glove that exhibits excellent tactile feel yet, is durable enough to withstand the rigors of the road-going rider. In other words, the 365 Gore-Tex glove's waterproof and breathable construction doesn't make your hands feel like they're surrounded by a garbage bag just to keep you dry. Except for a slightly thicker feel on top of the glove, the 365' isn't much different than other Alpinestars motorcycle gloves. The knuckles are covered by a solid PU protector and additional EVA padding is sewn into the leather above the fingers and on the thumb. The palm has an additional layer of synthetic suede attached in critical areas to impart extra abrasion resistance and Alpinestars uses their patented 3rd & 4th finger bridge to prevent painful finger damage in a crash. A long gauntlet makes sealing these waterproof gloves over your jacket's sleeves easy, further aiding their bad weather usefulness. All of this is available in a leather motorcycle glove that provides excellent dexterity and safety.

We really appreciate tips from other riders. If you would like to add a tip to this list, feel free to send it to us using our contact form.If a manufacturer has taken the trouble to design a motorcycle glove with safety features it is highly unlikely that a wrist strap is not included. (give it a quick check)
Just make sure that the padding and glove liners don't hinder your feel of the controls.
An important tip is to be happy about the usability. You really have to get used to bigger, fatter fingers on the controls (just make sure they are not too fat).
If your gloves are well waterproofed you don't need rain gloves.
Use a motorcycle glove chart size so you can check which size you need.
Check out how the glove is stitched together. You will get extra cold hands if water can come in through the stitches.
Motorcycle Gloves Review Tips & Checks
Comfort
A motorcycle glove should be the right size. Since you are using your hands all the time, gloves with the wrong size will be a bother. Big gloves will start to wrap around the bar. Too small will annoy your fingers.
Construction
Most gloves are ergonomically formed. Just watch the rain glove because sometimes it's just two halves sewn together. Gloves are nearly always made up of leather or very strong nylon. Leather provides the highest safety if you hit the ground.
Furthermore a glove should have reinforcements such as extra padding on the knuckles and palms. Special features are carbon shells covering high impact areas. Or little metal studs on the palms to avoid scraping open your hands.
Lining
Some gloves allow you to take out the lining for a wash, which is an extra benefit after about 2000 miles! You can also get glove liners separate which can be an extra advantage if you want to warm up your medium weight gloves, for example.
Extensions
Often summer gloves don't have them but all others do. It's the part which goes over your sleeve to avoid wind blowing in your jacket. A disadvantage is that rain can run down your sleeve and into your glove. Still the advantage is better, just tuck away the glove extensions under your jacket during the rain.
Water resistant
Should gloves be water resistant? Yes I say. These days all the material is so high-tec that a good glove should also keep out water. You pay a bit more but it saves you buying rain mc gloves. Watch for this benefit in gloves. Manufacturers will definitely tell you about it.
Insulation
Apart from a good lining the wind will influence the temperature of your hands big time. Wind creeps in where the glove is stitched together, often at your fingertips. The same place that is so hard for your body to keep warm.
Wrist strap
Straps can be made from Velcro or a simple button clip system. They improve the comfort of a glove.
Gloves are designed for a particular hand size. A wrist strap makes sure the glove holds its ergonomically formed design. This also ensures that all extra safety padding is in the right place.

Motorcycle Gloves Introduction
Motorcycle summer gloves
Summer gloves are often no more that thin leather gloves without a lining and hardly any water resistance. It's best to consider having gloves made of leather as it's the safest (for example cycling gloves would be shredded in the event of a fall).
Alpinestars motorcycle gloves
There are two types, with and without fingers. (without might be comfy but you're not driving a car) If you ride in extreme sunny/hot conditions perforations in your gloves (for cooling) can give you a nasty sunburn.
Motorcycle medium weight gloves
(racing gloves / summer gloves)
Medium weight is between summer and winter gloves and most riders have these. Some are lined, some aren't. These days they have special protection areas and are really comfortable. You can get them in all sorts and styles.
Motorcycle winter gloves
Much thicker than medium weight gloves. Really made to keep your hands warm during colder weather. They will often have to handle rain too (just make sure they can, otherwise they are worthless).
Motorcycle rain gloves
Often no more than a plastic covering to keep the rain out. I'm not such a fan of them. They can get slippery on the controls, get bulky and I don't like glove over glove. However rain gloves are often quite cheap and easy to carry along.Alpinestars gloves-The Best In Motorcycle Gloves Today
